COMPETITION TEAM

Competition team is designed for dancers who are ready for higher level performance, training and commitment and want to take dance to the next level! Dancers auditioned and were selected into different competition levels based on 1) interest 2) attendance and commitment to general classes 3) skill level. Dancers participating in competition do participate in general classes but general classes and competition remain completely separate elements of our overall program. For those interested in joining our team, auditions and interviews will be held in APRIL/MAY for the next season.

COMPETITION REHERSALS:

Competition practices are held Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year. The schedules are subject to changes and additional rehersals maybe required. All comp dancers should be sure that their schedules are open during this time each week in case practices are scheduled. Our goal is to get as much done Sep-Dec to eliminate excessive Saturday rehearsals.

COMPETITION RULES:

**Attendance: Dancers cannot miss a competition practice. The only exceptions that will be made is an approved family emergency or serious illness (doctors note required) and a pre-scheduled vacation that has been communicated and approved by instructor. If a dancer is injured, they must still attend competition rehearsal to take notes, absorb choreography and feedback.

**Technique classes: Competition team members must take a minimum of 3 dance classes per week (ballet and technique class is mandatory). They cannot miss more than four technique/dance classes during a season or they will not be eligible for competition team.

**Etiquette and behavior: Being part of our competition team not only requires dancers to be committed to the team, but also requires them to represent themselves as upstanding citizens in the community since they represent our community based dance program.

ANY FORMS OF BULLYING (In-person or cyber) OR INAPPOROPRIATE LANGUANGE USED ON SOCIAL MEDIA SITES WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.

In addition, any unsportsman-like behavior between team members will also result in losing placement on the team.
