Mrs. Traci


Owner, Director and Lead instructor/Choreographer

Traci was born and raised in Southern California where she studied dance for many years and received scholarships to several elite dance schools in Orange County. She studied under many well-know choreographers and instructors and was selected to be part of a professional touring company, which she performed with for two years. She started up many non-profit dance organizations connecting teen youths with younger school-aged children emphasized a mentorship program through dance and movement. These groups would then perform for community events such as benefits, fundraisers, silent auctions, nursing homes and fairs. She earned her Associated degree in dance, bachelors of science in child and adolescent development and her Masters Degree in Sociology with an emphasis in research methodology. Traci has also certified through Dance Teacher University (DTU) which is a collaboration of dance studios with professionals in the filed as well as The University of Las Vegas, Nevada.  She worked with several non-profit organizations assisting the betterment of our youth including research for Head Start and the Center for Collaboration for Children. She also taught over 10 years at several colleges throughout the country, specializing in classes such as child development, social problems, marriage and family and more. She teaches dance in all genres and is the lead choreographer for the TPS competition team. Her work has received numerous awards including “dare to be different”, “white diamond”, technique, age-appropriateness, innovation and her work has been selected as a choreography winner where the piece was invited to perform at Nationals during the Choreography review. In addition, she was one of a few selected to choreograph for the elite national dance compnay, “Dance Spectacular” for CRU nationals. Her dancers have been invited to numerous dance companies based on technique and performance and have placed in the overalls countless times. Her students also won overall first place adult dancer and child dancer at the ARTS showcase in Orlando Florida. all throughout Eurasia. She met Gigi in Japan and they came back to Redondo Beach and zenStudio was born. 

Miss Emma


Lead instructor/choreographer

Miss Emma Phelps has been dancing for 10 years and has been on the TPS competition team for the past five years, and continuing. Emma has earned many awards, judges acknowledgements and titles over the past several years at various competitions. In addition to winning “Ultimate title” placements, countless top five placement awards and she has also been the recipient of first place student choreographer two years in a row, where her pieces have also been selected for “video of the year”, “most technical dancers” and more. Emma attends Gull Lake High School, where she earns a 4.0 grade point average and during the CRU competition, she was awarded a CRU scholarship for her outstanding academic record combined with her dedication and dance technique and has been selected and participated in the prestigious “Dance Spectacular” company at CRU the past three years. She has also attended ARTS INTERNATIONAL in Orlando and Los Angeles where her dance pieces were selected in the overall top routines and brought in front of numerous casting agents and managers (earning her call backs). Emma has performed in Chicago with the Trifecta Dance Company and has also taken class at the Chicago Cultural Center. She currently is a choreographer and instructor for Traci Phelps Studios as well as the TPS dance team. Emma will be studying health/nutrition and fine arts (dance) at Western Michigan University in her future where she wants to obtain degrees in these areas and pursue opening up her own dance studio. In her spare time, Emma loves being with children, reading, hanging out with family and friends and researching wholistic foods and healthy living. Emma loves to dance because it is her life, she loves the emotion expressed and particularly, loves performing and creating her own choreography. Some of her favorite moments are being able to help behind the scenes in the wings, with administrative work and with other dancers during competitions and performances.

Miss Madeline


Miss Madeline has been dancing for 10 years and has been on the TPS competition team for the past five years, and continuing. While competing, Madeline has earned several prestigious awards including “the White Diamond” award twice for technique and precision, the entertainment MC award and is the recipient of “Best Child Dancer” through the ARTS INTERNATIONALS in Orlando, Florida where she also received a lifetime scholarship to attend and continually perform in front of casting agents and managers around the world. Madeline has been selected and participated in two dance companies through CRU: Fashion Show Company and Heart and Soul. Madeline attends Gull Lake High School, where she earns a 4.0 grade point average. Madeline is an assistant instructor for Traci Phelps Studios and absolutely loves assisting in Musical Theatre where she can collaborate her love for acting, dance and music together. Madeline has performed in Chicago with the Trifecta Dance Company and has taken classes at the Chicago Cultural Center. Outside of dance, Madeline attends acting classes at the Civic throughout the summer and brings much of those experiences into the dance classes she instructs. Personally, Madeline loves being with her family and friends, being outdoors, has a passion for animals, developing makeup that is eco and animal friendly and learning about the current environment/climate change. As an adult she wants to pursue college studying marine biology or eco and animal friendly cosmetic products, focusing on giving back to the environment and creating awareness in the area of climate changes and the Great Barrier Reef.

Mrs. Shannon


Lead instructor/choreographer

Shannon was born and raised in Southern California where she began her dancing career at the early age of 3.  She studied and performed well throughout her adulthood and began teaching with TPS the last several years in all genres of dance. Shannon specializes in body kinesthetics, having her certificate in massage therapy. Personally, Mrs. Shannon resides in Comstock Michigan and has a husband and two beautiful children (Micah who is 7, and Naevia age 3 and Ayla age 1). Shannon teaches many classes at Traci Phelps Studios and also choreographs for our award-winning competition team. She has earned several awards for her competition numbers such as stylization and technique and recently studied under artists such as Lacey Schwimmer, Gustavo and more at the Dance Teacher Web Conference. 

Miss Alaina


Lead instructor

Alaina began dancing with Traci Phelps Studio three years ago at age 13. With her background in gymnastics, she has an affinity for acro, but enjoys several types of dance, most especially modern, contemporary, and hip hop and will be giving tap a try this year. Alaina enjoys the challenge and artistry of dance, finding it a fun outlet for her creativity, athleticism, and dedicated nature. She is particularly excited to work with younger dancers as she teaches acro and assists with other classes, using her experience, caring, and love of kids to support and motivate them to new heights. Alaina is a junior at Gull Lake High School where she excels in academics, is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Spanish Club, and competes on the Track & Field team as a pole vaulter

Miss Lindsey


Lead Instructor 

Lindsey is a Senior in high school at Delton Kellogg. She has been dancing for 12 consecutive years, 7 of which are at TPS. Her favorite style of dance is contemporary, primarily because she love the flow of movement. Dance is a huge part of her life and she enjoys expressing her   passion and emotion and working hard everyday to achieve goals. In addition to dance, she enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, watching sports and working out. Lindsey is an award group dancer as well as soloist.

Miss Lilly


Lead Instructor 

She started dancing at age 3 and has been   dancing a total of 13 years. She started competitive dance at age 5. Lilly has danced with Dance the World in Walt Disney World, Orlando, FL and has  performed as a dancer in Center Stage Theater’s  productionof Shrek. She is an award winning soloist  and has been selected and performed multiple times with CRU’s Dance Spectacular National Company. Her favorite style of dance is Contemporary. She loves to dance because it allows her to express herself.  In her spare time Lilly loves going for hikes, traveling and on occasion drawing.

Miss Grace


She tarted dancing at age 3 and has been dancing a total of 11 years. She has 5 years of   competitive dance experience. Grace is an award  winning soloist and recently received a KAR   convention scholarship. She has danced with Dance the world in Orland, FL, Cathy Roe’s DTV National Company and Cathy Roe’s Dance Spectacular National Company. Her favorite type of dance is Musical Theater and Contemporary. When asked why she loves dance she said, “I love to dance because it relieves my stress and I feel happy. I also get a second family to connect with.” When she isn’t dancing Grace loves playing volleyball, running and singing. 

Miss Nicole


Nicole has been dancing for 12 years.  Her favorite style of dance is hip hop or contemporary. She loves dancing because I can tell my story,  Other than dance she loves to be around horses and children. Nicole is an award winning group and solo performer. Miss Nicole was also selected and participated in the Elite dance company,   “Dance Spectacular”. 

Miss Shayna


Her passion is dance. She started dancing at 3 years of age and it has been her joy ever since. She is verse in all genres and loves to create through choreography.   Her favorite dance styles are contemporary and modern. She loves to dance because it allows her to just be in the moment and express so many different life emotions through movement. Shayna's secondpassion is young children. She is happiest when spending time helping the younger dancers at the studio or babysitting. Her future plans will be a degree in early childhood development, social work and or teaching. Shayna'sother interests include dedication and success in her education, spoiling her chiweenie, Jaxand spending time with her family.Shespends numerous hours at the studio assisting with dance camps, administrative and behind the scenes work and assisting in classes. She has been a TPS Comp Dancer since its beginnings.

Miss Nicole


Nicole has been doing dance for eleven   years has been part of Traci Phelps Studios since   the first year it started. Her favorite style of dance   is  contemporary and jazz. Nicole loves dance   because it is a great way to make new friends, and   do what you love. Outside of dance her favorite   activities are to going to the beach with friends and   family, or just staying inside and watching Netflix. Some of her outside interests are volleyball and swimming, of course after dance. Miss Nicole has performed at various competitions where her group pieces have been selected for video of the year as well as best technicians.

Miss Camrynn


Camrynnhas been dancing most of her   life. Her favorite styles are musical theatre and   contemporary. Camrynnhas competed in numerous   group pieces and solos and was also selected for the   Broadway Company and Dance Spectacular for CRU   Nationals. When she is not dancing, she loves caring   for her animals and baking.
